FOOD, CONVERSATIONS & DESIGN ON BROMPTON ROAD

SHOWROOM, 26.09.24

For a second consecutive year, Arclinea took centre stage alongside Flos and B&B Italia at the brands’ Brompton Road flagship showroom during an event as part of 2024’s London Design Festival. The space — boasting a new showcase of two kitchen compositions — features a Lignum et Lapis window display and a mezzanine dedicated to a sophisticated Thea configuration.

The dramatic, sculptural personality of Lignum et Lapis can be glimpsed from the Brompton Road window, modelling its iconic form and featuring a Vintage stainless steel island paired with the NTF black ash wood of the snack counter and deep drawers. Simultaneously functional and convivial, the elegance of its monolithic silhouette is complemented by wall units of black ash slats and an additional hidden workspace behind Modus doors. The composition is complete with a marble countertop and backsplash, alongside Italia doors in Vintage stainless steel that front the base cabinetry.

Providing a stimulating moment of reflection and creativity, set against the showroom’s informally convivial backdrop, esteemed designers Michael Anastassiades and Jay Osgerby shared their perspectives in a ‘Design Discussion’ talk moderated by Elle Decoration UK Editor-in-Chief Ben Spriggs. The conversation offered a rich exploration of design through time, with a central focus on the belief that “the goal is not to replace the icons of the past, but rather to complement them, sharing spaces in harmony.” This special event welcomed guests to explore the showroom while observing the preparation of a menu of Italian delicacies crafted for the occasion by Burro e Salvia restaurant, culminating with the iconic culinary classic: risotto alla milanese.

Dedicated in its entirety to Thea, the versatile star of the display, the showroom’s mezzanine offers a hospitable experience centred around a large island that plays with a variety of original material and finish pairings. The Collemandina marble countertop and side panels meet the bronze PVD of the Canto snack bar and the Conchiglia lacquer of the models signature handle-free drawer fronts. Made entirely using refined NTF fossil oak, the tall units and Era table with a bench complete this well-balanced composition.
